Sri Lanka - lots to see and do in a compact country

Post by sahoaction » Sat Jun 01, 2019 11:44 am

Hi everybody!

I have recently travelled to Sri Lanka and had a great time. So much to see and do in a rather compact country.
Some of the highlights were watching blue whales off the coast of Mirissa, exploring the rainforest in Sinharaja Nature Reserve, birdwatching in several national parks and encountering large herds of elephants just grazing next to the highway.
Apart from that there were cultural highlights like visiting the ruins of Polonnaruwa and Sigiriya or the cave temples of Dambulla.

Unfortunately, the Easter Sunday terror attacks mean that traveling to Sri Lanka now has to be done with some caution until they sort out the issue.

Unfortunately, it's justified to stay away for the moment, because the Government didn't act even though they had information about the attacks. The Government has let their people down and destroyed the tourism business.
